The Arcs collection was developed in collaboration with artist Sergey Navasardyan, whose practice is rooted in street art and the urban landscape of Yerevan. He is known for his vivid, abstract, and expressive murals in public spaces.
The collection grew out of Sergey’s exploration of the urban fabric, graffiti, and street art culture, translating their colours and visual language into woven compositions.
For the blankets, the artist chose a weft-surface twill, a weaving structure characterised by diagonal parallel ribs. This structure allows the yarn to move more freely, creating a soft and pliable textile that drapes naturally and recovers well from creasing. The tapestries are based on drawings created by Sergey especially for OCHRE. Translated from drawing into woven form, they shift the artist’s visual language from the scale and surfaces of the street to the more intimate context of the home.
Through this change of material, scale, and setting, Arcs brings an expression rooted in Yerevan’s urban landscape into everyday domestic space.
Sergey Navasardyan is a Yerevan-based artist and creative practitioner working across art, culture, brands, and public space. His practice centres on creating distinctive and recognisable visual languages, often drawing on the character, energy, and identity of places. Among his projects is Yerevantropics, through which he explores a contemporary visual language for Yerevan, moving beyond folkloric, nostalgic, and post-Soviet representations.
