The blankets are hand-woven using 100% wool weft and 100% cotton warp and detailed with fringed edges on the short sides. The wool used to create the blankets are a combination of undyed wool and wool dyed with natural pigments.
Together with the artist Sereg Navasardyan we created a series of 3 blankets. For his blankets the artist used natural light beige and dark brown wool combined with the bright yellow and orange, for which the natural wool yarns were dyed with the natural pigments. Sereg Navasardyan is a street art artist from Yerevan, famous for his vivid abstract expressive public murals. The colour combination used in the blankets comes from his artistic study of urban fabric, graffiti and street art culture.
The artist chose a twill type of weaving for his blankets (Weft Surface Twill), which is a pattern of diagonal parallel ribs. In this type of weaving, the yarn moves freely; it is soft and pliable, which makes the fabric recover from creasing and allows it to drape well.
The blankets are thick and warm and can be used both as an element of decoration and as a cover.
Created in cooperation with the artist Sereg Navasardyan
